Carmine's Journey: A Handicapped Pug Helps His Dad. Carmine gives his dad a chemo hug. (see photo)--Ya gotta go to the link to see Carmine's picture with his Daddy)
Hi I'm Carmine - You might feel bad for me because I was born with three legs, but I am the luckiest rescue pug in the world because I get to do some rescuing all on my own. I have a very important job and my Mom and Dad say I'm pretty good at it. Having three legs makes it especially easy to hold me close, and this is why I am the perfect pug for my Dad, Conan, when he needs a chemo hug. When I first came to my new home, my name was Cassidy, but Dad said I was such a strong pug, I needed a strong name, so I became Carmine. I like to sit up like a little human, but that's so I can keep an eye on all the important things going on. We've had a lot of activity lately, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer after Thanksgiving. This is the second time he was diagnosed with cancer in three years and he is no longer able to work as he goes through his chemo treatments. My pug brother Cyrus and I both take turns making sure Dad gets all the tender pug care necessary to make him feel better. My Mom, Kymberly, has been super busy holding fundraisers to help pay the medical bills, because the insurance company my family used pulled out of Texas and they no longer have coverage. I'm sure you can see that I have a big job, providing love and comfort, but I have been through a lot in my life, so I am the perfect pug to get the job done. Even with just three legs, I had a long journey to reach my forever family. I started my life in a back yard puppy mill, and then went to a family who had to give me up because of my handicap. Along the way I caught that awful heartworm, but I got better and I kept my spirits up, because I knew I had a destiny much bigger than most pugs would ever have. I love my family, and am best friends with my adopted Greyhound brother, Woody, who is also a rescue and my pug brother Cyrus, who was adopted at the same time I was. As you can see, I am the luckiest pug in the world, because I was born to be exactly where I am now, in a home that is full of compassion, and a place where I can give back just a bit of love in return for all that has been given to me. My family has a journey ahead, and with me here, there will never be a shortage of healing hugs. I think you'll agree, I am right where I was always intended to be.
Shelter: DFW Pug Rescue Votes: as of 3pm CST is 1584. Good for 2nd place right now.
OK....now lets talk about Gracie Lynn and the auction for the Slimmer Pug's Mimi and Gracie.
Mommy talked to Miss Mindy last night and she said Gracie is still in a lot of pain, much more than Mimi did following her surgery but then Gracie had lots more done. Mimi is almost back to normal but they still need lots of prayers and paw vibes.
Gracie Lynn in her cast.
"Hey, Mona!" "Yes, Weenie." "Mommy said I could send Gracie Lynn $5.00 for the privilege of signing her cast" "Wow, Weenie!! That's a great idea. Do you think Miss Mindy would let us do that?" "Yep!! Mommy just talked to her and she said yes." "Mommy!! Mommy!!! Mommy!!!! Can I send some money too!! "Of course you can. Just think about it, it would be nice if anybody that wanted the honor of Gracie Lynn carrying their name along with her sent some too." "Oh, Mommy, this is so much fun!! Any little bit would be wonderful, it don't gotta be $5.00, 1 green paper is good too!!" "Please dear friends, if you'd like to sign Gracie's cast, go to their blog @ http://slimmerpugs.blogspot.com/ and click on CHIP IN on the sidebar to donate but make sure you leave a comment your green papers are for the cast signing."
The Mommy here:
One last thing before we close this post. Mona & Weenie really love "pawing it forward" and they asked their Aunt Judy if she would make a harness for them to send in for the summer auction for our Gracie Lynn & Mimi Roo. She not only agreed to make one but said she would like to donate a complete outfit. Maybe you've seen the caps that Mayor Mr Frankie Furter Price has that Judy made and Weenie's girlfriends Shelby & Milly have too. All the harness you've seen on our blog through the years were made by Judy & Diana. Below is a sample of what an outfit could look like. Judy has all kind of fabric to choose from and she can fit any dog up to 22 pounds. So please bid when the bidding begins.
Mona & Weenie here......Mommy has been sad all day today and only doing this post has cheered her up a little. Papa Ricca, our humane grandpa, died 27 years ago and it seems like yesterday. He had a massive heart attack and Mommy was the only person with him when he died. Please say a prayer for her.
PSA....it is now 4:45 pm and Mommy was talking to Frankie's Mom and just found out from her why she can't leave comments on blogs asking for you to select a profile. If you have the same problem, Sign In to Blogger and unlick "keep signed in" if you have a check by it. That worked!! Yahoo!!! You gotta try to leave a commnet and then then signin to blogger on each blog until your name is there. We gotta keep our Mayor Frankie Furter in office.
