FAREWELL SWEET PUPPIES, SHELBY AND YESTERYDAY'S PET FEST

7 Days Until Halloween!!

HALLOWEEN QUOTE OF THE NIGHT:

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear,
and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."
- - - H. P. Lovecraft

Dearest friends,

Mona's Mommy here....

This morning Sandra, Josh and I took the pups to their new home until the they get adopted.
It was even more than I expected. Petey, Baron and Megan got acquainted with the other puppies right away. There a four other puppies at the rescue and it took no time at all for them to get to know each other, even if only across the wire for today. We also met some of the adult dogs and had a tour of the property and spent hours talking to Bill. One thing that was said, that made both me and Sandra very happy, was that we can call whenever we wish to check on them and part of his contract when he approves every adoption is that the adopters keep in touch with whoever gave them up. He also said as long as the pups are with him, they keep their same names which was very special to us. He and his son are with the dogs 24/7. They get exercised 5 times a day and our pups will be with them for 4 or 5 months.

Where is Spirit? The family that adopted Pattie Cakes decided to take her too, so Shelby will be able to see them after she is well again and we can watch them grow.

Sandra called Thursday night and said that Shelby has been coughing up blood and breathing very heavily. Since Mona and I had to do Pet Fest yesterday, Saturday took Shelby to Dr Briles. It of course is the heart worms. He took blood test, gave her antibiotics and steroids to take. In too weeks she goes back to see if she is strong enough to withstand the heart worm treatments. If not all we can do is keep her comfortable. The good thing is that her heart sounds clear but now she has to be kept completely quite and not excited. So the pups leaving now had to be done for her own good.
-
Sandra asked Dr Briles how much it will cost to make Shelby whole again. Including the heart worm treatment, spaying, removing her damaged eye and skin treatment we are looking at another $1200.00. Since we only had to give the rescue $450.00 we are back up to $550.00 in Shelby's Pay Pal Account. Bill's group is called GULF COAST BULLY BREED RESCUE and they have a Face Book page  www.facebook.com/profilEnd-Dodfighting-in-Houston

Update....just now as I was typing this, Bill called and said the pups are already with the other puppies and he thinks they will be all good for each other. He has taken pictures of them and will be posting their pictures of Face book tomorrow.

I can't tell you how happy we are for the puppies and even if we should lose are beloved Shelby there are 5 healthy puppies, who wouldn't be here if it wasn't for what her Mommy did to bring them into this world. I can't believe that God would let us get this far to lose Shelby but we leave it in his hands now.

Mona here........

Mommy is exhausted. She overdid it yesterday but we had a wonderful time anyway. Since Mommy wanted everybody to know about the puppies and Shelby, tonight's post only a has a few pictures from Pet Fest.

Me and Mommy just sat around, waiting for ATDR booth to get setup and then I hopped right in to get down to business. Mommy took 238 pictures yesterday but believe it or not didn't take one picture of me kissing. I wore my little blue jean dress until they changed me into my Halloween harness and cap.

This little girl didn't want a kiss but she asked if she could hold me. She asked if she could adopt me but Mommy snatched me right back and said no way. So she asked her Mommy if she could take one of 10 or more fosters that were there instead.

I don't usually like the Dallas Cowboys but this little girl and I had a nice long chat.

They also had a costume contest for each  breed there and this little fella won his class. Can you tell what me was. He looked good enough to eat except for the chocolate.

This is one of the clowns that was running around making balloon animals (mostly wienie dogs) for the kids. Mommy was shocked when she found out she was man. He wanted to buy a kiss but instead of kissing me, he gave Mommy a kiss and said thanks for being a rescuer.
Sorry but that's all for tonight. Mommy is hurting all over and says we need to go take the cure before bedtime.

Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}}....Mona

SIGH... the puppies have started the second phase of their lives. Isn't that just wonderful? I think you found the perfect place to take them. This Bill sounds grrrreat. Very understanding and caring. Just what they need. I especially like the fact that they will be staying there for a good long time. That gives them time to mature and be ready to look for their furever peoples.

I think Miss Sandra and your mom found a wonderful place fur Shelby's pups! Sounds like they will be wonderfully cared for until they find their furever homes.

So glad to hear that the rescuer was such a nice and caring soul. I hope the puppies find their forever homes within the new year and have healthy, happy lives. I'm so sad to hear that Shelby isn't doing well...but I know that you, Dr. Briles, and Sandra can get her fixed up...with the Almighty's help being the number one hand in the conversation on Shelby. It would have been nice to see Petey and Megan grow up close to home...but alas, they will spread their pibble charm along with Baron to other peeps within the area.
We are sincerely glad that Shelby can resume getting the care she needs and hopefully it won't be long til she is bounding around like a playful puppy that she never got to be.
Much luvums (Hugs from the mamas to Ms. Sarah, licks from the babies to Ms. Mona),

I bet it was really hard to leave Shelby's pups. It really was for the best though and it sounds like they're in the best place they can be. I love that you'll be kept up to date on them just so you'll never have to wonder how their lives turned out.

Continuing to pray for Shelby.

So sad to see the pups leave, but we guess it was for the best. We will keep our paws crossed for Shelby to rebound now that she can get back on her meds. Keep that Mommy resting, Mona.

That looks like a great event!

I sure do hope that Shelby can be saved and will be strong enough to do the heart worm treatment. So I am taking it her heart worms are pretty bad? Sometimes if they are not that bad they can just treat them with monthly heart worm medication.

Mona, we are still praying for Shelby. Hopefully she will be able to get back on the meds and start feeling better soon. So hard to believe that the pups are so big already. It sounds like you guys found the pawfect place for them.
Looks like the pet fest was a lot of fun!

Oh what news - we got so behind and had no idea Shelby was so sick. We knew she had to stop her treatment for the puppies but...well, we just had hoped. We are glad that the puppies are in a wonderful place now - and oh how we wish we could adopt one ourselves - they are cute and if they are like their mom we bet they are and will be super sweet. We are sending tons of purrs and prayers for Shelby!
