"It's no coincidence that man's best friend can't talk."
Hi dear friends,
DROH has had some very bad news again. We have a new rescue, that is another burn victim. He is being treated by our vets now and we hope for the best for him. The one positive is that he is heart worm negative. His name is Dominik so I need your help again. This little fellow needs your prayers. Sorry I don't have a picture yet but I do know he is a red mini or tweenie.
Sadder still is Champagne. This is her picture below. She is very sick. The Vet is afraid she might have distemper. She was vaccinated as soon as she joined our program, but if it is distemper, she obviously had not been vaccinated before. Don't humans, with any sense at all, realize that even though rabies vaccinations are good for 3 years, we have to be vaccinated for distemper and parvo yearly?
What is even sadder still, is that she was rescued along with 4 puppies that are her own. They all have found foster homes but what does this mean for them. She had been adopted last week but then started acting strange and now her new parents have had to give her back. Mommy says she doesn't know that much about distemper but that most dogs with it don't make it. Please!!! Please pray that she will make it.
But to go along with the bad news, today Mommy got an e-mail from Kathleen about Wendy that is very good news. You might remember that earlier this year there was a Arthritis Walk that DROH was involved in and Wendy was the canine mascot for it since she suffers from arthritis too and remember she walked the whole 3 miles with Bradley, the other worthless dog....or so the people that gave him up called him. Mommy gets very emotional when she talks about Bradley, so it's best to leave it right there & show you Wendy's picture and let you read the contents of the e-mail!!!
Wendy when she first came into our program.
Hi Sarah,
You met Wendy at the Arthritis walk earlier this year. My husband walked Mona on the short route. You wrote about her in your blog, I think. We've been working with Wendy for over a year and a half and I wanted to let you know that we are going to let her stay with us permanently. I could not imagine sending her to another home when it has taken us so long to bring her out of her shell. She's really not any trouble and being so tiny, she doesn't eat much, either. I've attached her intake photo and a more current one used in the arthritis walk.
Just thought you'd like to know!
Kathleen
Mommy got so excited when she read that Kathleen and her nice husband, were going to adopt her. The love between the 3 of them was obvious and as Mommy & I remember she was very sweet but also very feisty.
Please dearest friends, please, please send some healing vibes to Dominik and Champagne. One last thing Mommy took this little video this afternoon and hopefully it will make you laugh.
Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all..........Mona

Your mom is a strong person to be able to handle so many crisis, but then she gets a nice letter and it must make it worthwhile.

Hello Mona!
We will be praying for those special pups. We just don't know what is wrong with people.
That was so nice of them to send you that note! Happy endings are the BEST!
Great video Mona! You make us smile every time!
Lots of Luv & Kisses
Addie, Lucie, and Hailey
Hi Mona, You can count on me to keep my paws crossed for those poor sick ones.
It is grrreat that a loving family has taken the dachshund into their lives PERMANENTLY. I know that is a good decision. Glad that they helped her work through some past issues so she can move on with her life.
Sweet Mona and mommy....
we'll pray very very hard for those 2 sweet little friends!!!!
our hearts are break for them....
But luckily you gave us some happy good news and now we're feeling more relieved!!!!
You're wonderful in your video!!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!!
You and your mommy are very very very special friends!!!!

Tons of love and kisses
Will be praying that those puppies all make it back to better health soon!
Meanwhile, thanks for sharing my picture {blushing}.
Im sooo sorry to hear about Dominik, why do people insist on doing that!!! Poor baby.
On no sorry to hear about Champagne. If in fact she does have distemper there is nothing that can be done for her and eventually she will have to be humanly put down :(
Wooohooo for Wendy! Love hearing about another sweet baby getting a great furever home!
I'll be khrossing my paws fur all those khanines in need...
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
First of all we will be praying for all the dachshunds that are hurting. Ever since Charlie came to live with us we have a special place in our heart for the long and short doggies!
Next we just hate it when people call dogs "useless" and "worthless". I was called that once and didn't like it at all.
Last but forsure not least...That video of you is too cute. I love how you got your tail going that fast! The best part was it ended when your tounge was on top of your nose...BOL Loved it!
Have a great weekend...
Wags and Licks,
Mollie & Bobo
Sometimes we have to get a little bad news with the good - hoping the best for those pups. We loved your video, Mona, you look pretty happy there. Were you getting ready for a walkie?
Tail wags, the OP Pack
I hate it when anyone is mean-- especially to doggies. I will cross my paws for Champaign and Dominick and the puppies. I'm happy about the good new.
I have an award for you on my blog.
Hi, Mona...
My paws are crossed & I'm sending lots of Good Lhasa Vibes, too...
Loved your video...
