MICHAEL VICK ARGUEMENT

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
(courtesy of Twix)

"Mankind is drawn to dogs because they are so like ourselves - bumbling, affectionate, confused, easily disappointed, eager to be amused, grateful for kindness and the least attention.
---Pam Brown
Hi friends,
I know that we have been sharing the fun we had a the Reliant Dog Show but something happened at work day that caused the Mommy to get fed up with one of the guy at work about that ass---you know what. She has been listening to this jerk every since it became known what a monster Michael Vick and his so called business partners were. Mommy would have done the same thing he did to those poor pit bulls, throw him in a ring and watch them tear him apart. We know that many people don't agree with us, but he should have been left to rot in hell. This is Mommy opinion and you don't have to agree with her but let her have her opinion.
Today this jerk asked Mommy if she had heard that Michael Vick was coming back to the NFL. She told him, like she always does she didn't want to hear that name much less talk about him. One of the ladies in the office said she was his kin and Mommy told her she was very sorry for her. That's what started it. Mommy asked both of them how they would like it if one of their dogs was used as bait. They of course said no they like it. That's when Mommy told them that DROH had a little black and tan dachshund that was used for that purpose in 2004. Her name was Gabriela. She had her back legs ripped off, her right eye had to be removed as was part of her jaw. She was a fighter and didn't want to give up. She was rescued by the SPCA and was going to be put down but there was something about her spunk that made them call DROH. She was the sweetest little thing. She never walked again but that never stopped her. She refused to use a cart and would crawl around on her belly in her diaper and didn't think she was ever any different then the other dogs. When Samantha died in 2005 and Mommy adopted me, Jacks and Siskle, she found about a program DROH had called "Sponsor A Forever Foster". Mommy was a manager than and decided she could afford tp pay for all Gabriela's medicines and vet care. Mommy had the privilege if sponsoring Gabby for 3 years before she died.
This picture is one of the dogs rescued from Michael Vick's house of horrors. If he lived we don't know but this is the reason that Mommy says rescue is so important and even if she can't do much anymore she will never stop what little bit she does. This treatment of all animals must stop!!

Here are some pictures of Gabriela in late 2004 when she was being taken to stay at Promise Land where she would live the last years of her life with a couple that took care of abused dogs. She loved it there and had everybody wrapped around her front paws. You will have to blow them up to see what a beautiful girl she was.

Everybody is familiar with the Rainbow Bridge where all are departed dogs are waiting to be rejoined with their families. A couple of days ago on the Dogs With Blogs News was a salute to rescuers. There is a poem about them. Mommy had heard it before and every time she hears it shw cries so for those of you who haven't read it before here it is

An Abandoned Dog’s Rainbow Bridge Story

It is said that when animals die they don’t go to heaven, they go to the Rainbow Bridge where they wait for their owners. The area around the Rainbow Bridge is sunny, warm but not too warm, flowers, grass and all the animals have been restored to a youthful healthy state.

On one particular day it was unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before.
But the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch.

It was not long before an elderly dog came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often.

He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again! As he walked toward The Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be.

But, alas, as he approached The Bridge, his way was barred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who were with their people could pass over Rainbow Bridge.

With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before The Bridge and saw a group of other animals like himself, also elderly. They were not playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.

One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge did not understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for a while to explain it to him.
“You see, that poor animal was abandoned by his owners. He was turned into a shelter just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of the shelter and passed on. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across The Bridge. ”

The first animal thought about this for a minute and then asked, “So what will happen now?”
As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted.
Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life.

“Watch, and see” said the second animal.

A second group of animals from those waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed him towards The Bridge.
They all crossed The Bridge together.

“What happened?”

“That was a rescuer. The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one, final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they could not place on earth, across The Rainbow Bridge. ”

“I think I like rescuers,” said the first animal.
“So does GOD,” was the reply.

Mommy doesn't have human children of her own though she has tons of Godchildren. Samantha was her child, her love and her heart. When Samantha died Mommy turned her heart to DROH and adopted me and my brothers. Then can the fosters, to many to count. It almost killed Mommy when she had to give all my brothers back to DROH and stop fostering. Even though she can't do all the things she did before there are many things she can and still does do. So please consider becoming involved in rescue even if it behind the scenes.
Like it said on DWB news, we lift our glass to everyone involved in rescue, even if it is behind the scene or even kissing at the Reliant Dog Show.
Mommy promises we will go back to sharing pictures of the dog show tomorrow.
Just to give everybody a laugh, after all this sad stuff, take a look at the Cool Daddy, Bandit.

Thanks for giving Mommy a chance to vent.

Love, kisses and {{{huggies}}} to all.....Mona

Mona, I almost cried with this version of the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you for the offer on Scarlet but I tried carrying her for more than 5 minutes last night and realized she is too heavy for me to carry around for too long. She's a labrador girl.

I cant wait for your next update on Joanie. I hope next time we see her she's packed some pounds.

take care sweet girl and God bless your Mommy.

We agree with your mom. Vick should rot!!

It kills us to see that picture of that poor pup. We just can't even image the pain and suffering that poor pup endured.

That poem was beautiful and made our mom cry. She often wonders about the poor stay animals that are hit by cars and left on the road. She just knows that there is a special place at the bridge for them where they can run and run with no worries of cars that can hurt them.

Lots of Luv & Kisses

My Mom is totally with you on that Vick guy, we don't even like to talk about him. It is good for you to show people the sad things that can happen to dogs. Thank you for that. It is hard, but if knowing saves a dog, it is worth it.You might have reached someone who will reach out to doggies now, you never know.

Good for your mom for taking action! Meanwhile, Vick...yeck. Crazy that some people don't realize the seriousness of what he (and others) did.

Amen! I've talked about Monster Vick and his crimes several times on my blog. This monster has not paid and never will be able to pay enough for what he's done. It's just that simple. I have three fur children and every time I read about his atrocities I just picture my little ones being subjected to that and this piece of filth watching and laughing and I'm grateful for my own humanity that I will never get anywhere near him as I don't think I could keep myself from doing something awful to him.

We agree with your Mom about that Vick creature. Our heart bleeds for all the animals that are hurt because of dog fighting. And the people that take part in it are despicable. ~S,S,C & F
