DWB SNOW DOGGIES

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Children and dogs are as necessary to the welfare of the country as Wall Street and the railroads." --- Harry S. Truman

Hi all our dear friends,

It's time to share all the pictures of some of my friends that like snow as much as me. I am envious of all of them but me and the Mommy love all of these doggies and their pictures. Yesterday the Mommy mentioned that it had only snowed 4 times in the almost 61 years of her life. Two times it snowed there wasn't enough to even build a snowman. Once was on Christmas Eve 2004, where it snowed that afternoon but melted during the night....I wasn't with the Mommy then so I guess I didn't miss much. Of course it snowed December 10, 2008 but the Mommy had to work late that day and by the time she got home it was really dark and all there was to see was a thin coating of snow at my house, but you saw how much snow the boys got at Aunt Judy's. The Mommy is gonna share the other time she actually saw snow....now that will really make you laugh. The other time is when she didn't see the snow but it snowed big time.

To start my post, I want to show you 2 pictures of our friends that have just what a doggie needs to star warm in the snow. Lorenza has never seen snow but she sure looks ready if it ever does snow.

The picture above is cute but not as cute as the real snow dogs you are about to see but first one of the Mommy's snow stores.....take it away Mommy.

Think back to 1959 ( all you doggies & most of your parents weren't even born yet) when it snowed for the first time in my young life....I was 11 years old.
Ah to be young again!
All my sisters and I were tomboys. I was rather hardheaded and did things that tended to get me in hot water. We were a school when it started snowing early that morning (a Wednesday) and the nuns would not let us go outside until school was out.....even at lunch we were forced to stay inside the lunchroom. We all kept looking out the window, while the snow was getting deeper and deeper. I would do anything on a dare and so when my best friend dared me to sneak out of the room, I took action. When Sr Mary Evanglista left the room, I jumped out the window. Only there was one problem, we were on the second floor. To make a long story short, I broke my arm. My Daddy was furious and I wasn't allowed to go outside at all and the snow didn't melt until Sunday, that just happened to be my Dad's birthday. I cried and cried but he never let me go out. He said maybe I would learn my lesson.....I never did.

Think back to 1972 ( maybe some of your parents where around then) when it snowed 3 times in Houston in a 10 day period, I was a sweet young thing at 24 years old and I didn't get to see any of it. Why? Because I had flown to Michigan, to spend my 2 week vacation with my sister, her husband and my 3 year old niece and I knew it would snow there. I went to Michigan to see snow since it never snows in Houston. It never snowed once while I was there but snowed 3 times at home. We did go to the mountains for a weekend where the snow never melts, even got to go snow mobiling and skiing but it wasn't like actually like seeing it snow in your own back yard. The day I flew home it snowed that evening but I was sitting on the runway back in Houston. At least my niece made a snowman and sent me a picture. If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!!

Don't I have some really sharp looking doggie friends playing in the snow? I love them all & wish I could go play in the snow with them.
GUESS WHAT?!!!! The Mommy was just listening to the news and it's gonna get really cold tonight. We had the air conditioner on all weekend....go figure! I guess I'll start dreaming for snow again....Hope springs eternal.

Love, kisses & huggies to all.....Mona & the Mommy too!!

What a wonderful post!

I LOVED your mom's tactic for getting to the snow by jumping out of the window!

Maybe we will get some snow this year or at least a few flakes.

We had the air conditioner on all weekend too! Crazy Texas weather. My husband heard freezing rain tonight. With any luck it will be during morning rush hour.

Be safe tomorrow and thank you very much for this wonderful post!

Happy WROO year, Mona and the Mommy!

This is a great post! All the doggies out in the snow!

The poor Mommy! The Girl can't imagine what it would be like to have only seen snow a few times in her life, she's always lived in places that get quite a bit. And the whole Michigan trip, that was awful!

We will send you snowy brown dog thoughts, and hopefully tonight will bring you some white stuff!

Brown dog kisses,
Dannan

Since I live in sunny Malaysia, the chances of me experiencing snow is zilch! So, thanks for the post. At least I get to see in on-line...

Whoo.
I saw this when you told me to see it, but I think I forgot to comment and thank you for putting our picture up!

And thanks for telling us about the heating pad, we'll try that too!

Hi Mona
Thanks for sharing the Snow Post. I enjoyed seeing all my friends playing in the snow, and me too.
Your mom is a hoot. She sure was desperate to play in the snow. It's too bad she broke her arm and was punished to boot.
See you soon.
Love Ruby
