“Death ends a life, not a relationship.”
~~ Mitch Albom,
Born Feb 10, 1913 -- Died Aug 13, 1984 |
100 years ago in Sicily Daddy was born. His father left him in Italy with 3 old maid Aunts after his wife died to make a better life for him and his son.
In 1927 Daddy came to America, alone, at 14 years of age with a tag on his suit that said his name. He had 7 pennies in his pocket.
In 1940 in married Anna Marie Bono. They were married 44 years before his death.
In 1984 he died at 71 years old.
The had 4 daughters, the wild and wooly Ricca girls.
He shaped my life. He has been gone 29 years now but the pain is still so fresh like it was yesterday.
He had a love of dogs. In my heart I know he is with Fussy, my first dog, she was 19 years old when she left for the bridge, my first dachshund, Samantha. who was 14 1/2 when she died and my little fella Weenie who was 11 years old when he was stolen away from me. I know that all my babies are safe with him.
I will always miss you Daddy.
With love......your Sarah, AKA, the Mommy

What a beautiful tribute to your Dad! And, yes, I know he is lovingly taking care of your furbabies until you can be with them all again.
He had a wonderful life and raised some great girls! :)
Your Dad sounds like a wonderful man. They are together as a Man's best friend is a dog.

Lovely tribute and what a wonderful man. Imagine arriving in a strange country at only 14 to make a new life. They were so adventurous and brave. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly

Sarah,
I love the posts about your family. I remember the story about your dad eating the bananas and he didn't know to peel them. I'm glad he loved dogs. Thanks for sharing.
