"There is nothing in which people more betray their character than in what they laugh at." His legs are bowed, his feet turn out
He gives us much to laugh about

He's two dogs long, half a dog high,
In spite of which, he's quick and spry,
So at his funny build don't smirk
It's perfect for his special work.

For Dachshund plays a hero's roll
In going down a badger hole.
A badger is a savage fighter
A vicious scratcher and a biter.

And folks who call him 'dash hound' show
Their ignorance and do not know
That 'dox-hoont' is his proper name
In Germany from whence he came.

Hi friends,

Today I got to do everything I haven't been able to do in the last 10 days. "Freedom, ah it is a wonderful thing and not to be taken lightly". I woke Mommy up about 5 am, well it was my first day of freedom after all. As soon as Mommy said we could get up, I took my first our bed!! Then I ran to the patio door and started barking to be let out. It was still dark but I didn't care. The first thing I did was run all around the backyard checking to make sure everything was exactly where I left it. Roland cut the grass yesterday and there is nothing like freshly cut grass for a good roaching. Sorry, no pictures it was too dark to take pictures.

I didn't want to come back in, so Mommy turned the cure on, left the patio door cracked, cranked the recliner up and went back to sleep. When it got daylight, she woke back up and came to look for me. I had taken my second jump of the day, into Mommy patio chair, to be on the lookout for those pesky tree rats. Dang it!! Somebody must have told them I was back cause I haven't seen one all day.

Lookit what Mommy saw. The dead hibiscus bush but a few gladiolas came back. Mommy was screaming for joy and jumping around, not good for an old arthritic woman. She was so happy!!

Next, my most favorite activity in the world, besides roaching of course, I got to jump into my chair. Oh how I have missed by very own chair, that's right in front of the patio door where I can climb up and watch the day unfold. It took the Doofuss forever to pull the shade up.

These first three pictures are very dark, but you get the idea.

Step one.......thinking about taking the leap.

Step two........taking the leap.

Step three.......Ah home at last!

These are my favorite chair poses.

Keeping an eye on Mommy.
Ignoring Mommy.

Sleeping on the cushion, when the sunshine is too bright.

I been getting all kinds of gifts since I been poorly, some you have seen already but I gotta share the 3 I just got.

Last Saturday, Paula brought me some chocolate Brownie bites. "Oh my dog!!" They were fantastic. Ya gotta get some of these!!

Paula also gave me one of these. "Oh my dog!!! It's a treat and it is huge. You slice it like sausage. She said it could be sliced and frozen, so it will last forever. Or if you got a bunch of doggies in your family you could share.

Next, I put my bikini on to lay in the sun. Mommy didn't hose me down though cause she was afraid she'd hurt me......."Whatever".

My hairless side.

My side with hair.
My top half..........see I have Tiger's heart on, I never take it off.

My back end shot.
WOW, it sure was hot out there, so back into the A/C for a little drink of water....
And then a little nappie.......ZZZ!!!!

After my nap, Mommy gathered up some of my stuffies, the ones that aren't carcasses yet, so I could play with them while she watched a western but.....

I decided another nap would be nice...........ZZZ!!!

Also last Saturday, Mommy found a Wal Mart bag, tied to the handrail on the back porch. It was from Aunt Tina and Chris & their doggies. They knew we wasn't gonna be home but stopped anyway. "I love you guys."

The Mommy here.......Does anyone know what this tree might be? It is growing in Smokey and Brownie's yard next to the fence but It hangs over into our driveway. It looks very delicate but has no smell.

Lastly, you gotta see the pressie I got from Sagira, Harley, STARR & Samrick. "Oh my dog!!" How did they know my most favorite treat in the whole wide world is Bil- Jac liver treats. "Thank you so much myn dear friends."

"Come on Mommy gimmie gimmie!!" She was just taking too long.....

so I just helped myself!!

What a fantastic day!! Gotta go take another's hard work having your freedom back!!

Love, kissesm and {{{huggies}}} to all.....Mona
