Mommy misses you so much. You have been gone 7 years but it seems like only yesterday that I held you in my arms one last time. Where I see you in my dreams is mostly in a field of bluebonnets running and playing, where sometimes all I could see was the tip of your tail. I remember how much you loved chasing butterflies and how you never gave up trying to catch them. I remember how you, me and Uncle Bennie would drive up to Bryan every April and find the same field of bluebonnets and sit under the same tree and have a picnic of cheese and fruit, and did you love strawberries and apples. I remember how we'd stop in Hempstead on the way home and buy you a cup of vanilla ice cream, me a strawberry cone and Uncle Bennie a chocolate cone from the Tastee Freeze. I remember how we'd stop at the Farmer's Market and I'd let you "TALK" to the horses on the other side of the fence and they'd "TALK" back to you. So much I remember but mostly I remember how much I loved you and you loved me.

Now my sweet baby, I see you in that same field running with Shelby while you teach her how to chase butterfies. There is room in my heart for both my girls and for my other girl, Mona too. Someday we will meet again but in until then you both will be ever in my heart.

A VISIT FROM THE BRIDGE.
Hi dearest friends,

The Fearless Five or as were once called, The Pittie Pack, are here for a short visit with Mona, Weenie and the Mommy. We are so proud of our new name. THE FEARLESS FIVE!! We are thought of as hereos here at the bridge but we know that isn't so. We just did what we had to do to save our Mommish, Daddish, Grammish and our precious little two legger pup, Joshua, also known as Pookie Bear. That's Mommy & Daddy's pet name for him because they of course are Mama & Papa Bear. Brinks and Bella are still the Pittie Pack and are the brave ones that are having to deal with happened down below.

It is such a wonderful place up here. So many nice doggies, kitties and all kind of animals to play with. Lots of our friends from Blogville were here to greet us and it's been so nice catching up with everybodyWe have everything we want or could ever dream of right here. Shelby is as beautiful as Auntie Sarah and our Mommish ever dreamed she would be. If you've seen the picture Spirit on our blog, you know that's how Shelby looks.

We can't stay long because there is so much to do up here but we wanted to let you know how things are going. It won't take long because Aunt Sarah has lots of pictures to show you of our family. Shelby wants to go first.

Shelby ......

OMD!! Where do I start. The first doggies I saw when I crossed the bridge was my two puppies that died. They were all over me giving me kisses and licks. My heart was racing. Me and my babies together again! But there was someone else with them. The Mommy's Samamtha, who had been watching over them for me until I could be with them again. She was there at the bridge to welcome me in. Then she took me to visit Dakota, Joanie, Snowball and lots of other Blogville girl doggies. Samantha left the Mommy on January 26, 2005. She said she knew her Mommy was gonna start thinking about the last week she was on earth and how sick she was so she was glad I was there with her. She doesn't lik to see her Mommy cry and there is no reason for anybody to cry anymore for any of us because it is HEAVENLY here.

Guero & Coco Chanel........

Boy of boy, are we having fun up here. We get to run, play & sniff around as much as we want and never have to go inside. We have even mastered the art of squirrel catching. We've made lots of friends but me and Coco like to stick together just like we did at home. I, Guero, always had to be with Coco even if I had to go to the Vet, we don't have vets up here cause nobody ever gets sick.

Oh my goodness. I'm blushing all over. I already have a boyfriend and we've only been here a short time. The first doggie I saw was Samantha and she said she was gonna look after me because I'm a little girl. Not that there is any reason to be scared up here. Everybody is so nice. The second doggie I saw was JODY. For those of you that have followed Mona & Weenie's blog for long know that my Jody, was not the Mommy's boy, but he was her heart and visited with her and the Mommy a lot. He left for the bridge on October 14, 2008. Let me tell you,, he is a real imp and just as crazy as Tiger. Non-stop, running & playing. Tiger and Jody are like 2 peas in a pod. They are best buddies already and I still get to romp with Tiger as much as I ever did.

Wow! What a fantastic place this is. I have a new friend, named Jody, whose sweet on Lucky. He's just perfect for Lucky. We are like 2 peas in a pod. All of us, the Pittie Pack or Fearless Five, visit with each other each day and sleep together at night under the watchful eyes of Shelby and Samantha. I miss my Mona so much and she is in my heart everyday until we meet again.

Friday, Sandra, Josh, the baby and I went out to dinner. It was nice to get away for awhile and try to have a little fun. We had a great time. Pookie Bear kept us entertained. He is a beautiful child and thanks to the Fearless Five he is still with us. The following are just a few of the pictures I took at Sandra's MIL's house while I was there playing with Brinks and Bella. Poor Bella is still traumatized by what happened. I thank God that Brinks is still with her. She follows him everywhere.

OMD, It's too bad the "My Peep is a Flake" week is over. You won't believe what our Mommy did at Dr Briles office on Monday when she went to buy me some more medicine. As you know we call Mommy our Doofuss. Believe me!! What she did proves it. This stunt is the flakest thing she has ever done in all of her 64 years. "Well she says she's only 63 but she'll be 64 on Saturday." Of course, you know it's got to have something do with a puppy. So here is what happened.

This is Crystal, she works for Dr Briles and is studing to be a vet tech. This little butterball puppy is her new dog. He is a chow and is 9 weeks old. He was behind the counter when Mommy got to the office and she didn't see him at first. He played a big part in what Mommy did cause he distracted her with his cuteness.

This little fella is Junior, a dachshund mix. He is 3 months old & too cute.
There were lots of folks in the waiting room at the Vet that day, so M0mmy took a seat on the bench next to Junior to wait her turn. Junior kept inching closer and closer, wanting to play. His Mommy and her son were trying to fill out paperwork on the puppy because it was their firt time there. He kept running up and down
the bench and his Mommy kept trying to catch him so he wouldn't fall. Our Mommy being Mommy asked the lady if she could help her by watching him.
Of course, that meant Mommy could hold him and love on him. There's something about a puppy in your arms, like nothing else in the world. So he climbed up on Mommy's shoulder and she starting patting him on his back and he went to sleep.
Mommy could have held him forever. Crystal called Mommy up to the desk to give her the medicine and then asked if Mommy wanted to see her puppy. The little guy had just had his shots and was a little grumpy. But that didn't stop Mommy from kising on him while Crystal was holding him. Somebody else came up to the desk so Mommy said goodbye and went to the car.

She got in and was putting on her seat belt when she saw what she had done. Junior was still asleep on her shoulder. Yep!! She forgot, yes!! forgot she still had him. Thank goodness she had to put her seatbelt on or she would have drove all the way home with him.

Needless to say, she jumped out of the car and ran back into the office with him still asleep on her shoulder. Everybody in the office, including Dr Briles, was laughing. Nobody seemed to be upset about her taking him. It wasn't like she was trying to dognap him, after all. It ws just an oversight on her part. So now Mommy's got a new puppy dog friend. His Mommy told our Mommy she knows who to call when she needs a dog sitter.

Now you decide. Is that not the flakest thing any peep has ever done?

Mommy and Aunt Pam went out for breakfast this morning to celebrate to the Texans winning their playoff game yesterday. Me and my Sissy, aka Mona, had our breakfast but it was just not enough.
When she got back from their breakfast, much better than mine I'm sure, this is the first thing she saw. Let me add right here, that the evidence of OUR WRONG DOING was in front of Sissy's bed not mine. So was the tuna fish package, Mona was licking on when Mommy walked in. Of course you know who got blamed!! My sweet Sissy would never do anything bad

I got one word for that......HA!!!

Mommy caught me with my snooter in this pan. Mona ran outside with her tuna fish package between her jaws and hid behind the garage.

This is what Mommy had to clean up. Was she mad!! Even though there were to sets of pawprints all around the garbage can. I got the blame and was convicted without a trial or even a lawyer to defend me.
Just because I have been known to knock over the garbage can for a quick feast before, does not mean I acted alone.

OKee DOkee ... We decided that we have one last flakey thing to share with ya that OUR Mommy did and she just did it this morning.

Lookit these cute little footie thingies that Mommy bought herself for Chsristmas.
She decided to wear them today since the ceramic tile floors were a little chilly this morning. This is what happened when she tried them on. Ya gotta understand. Our Mommy is not a little girl. Don't ya think that a woman that's gonna be 64 in another week would know what size to buy?

What a flake!!

This is Joey, who was on our Wordless Wednesday post this week.
For those of you who asked........NO it is not Weenie and we don't got one. Weenie would just do surgery on it. My Aunt Judy made it. She found a pattern and decided to make one. She's gonna start making them along with her harnesses for Dachshund Rescue. Don't know how much she is gonna charge for them but we can find out.
One more thing. Mommy has been so upset lately, she stopped following the Texans or much of anything else for that matter. Every week she would post the logos of both teams and the scores of each game they played. Win or lose, the winning team would always be on top. Today the Texans play at 3:30 pm EST in their first ever PLAYOFF game. We wish them luck.

Back to the flakey stuffs........Our Mommy thinks they lost their last 3 games, because she stopped doing those weekly posts........NOW THAT'S FLAKEY.

OUR MOMMY, THE FLAKE, FROM 5 TO ALMOST 64

OK, this is it. Have we got a flake for you!! Take a close look at this picture. It's the wild & wooley Ricca girls from like a 100 years ago. For those of you who haven't seen this picture before, our Mommy is on the left, if your looking right at the picture. She's the one with her head down with her peepers looking down. Remember that look, cause your gonna see it again in just a minute. Mommy was around 5 years old in this picture.

We got 3 FLAKE stories for you. Of course there are hunderds but I can vouch for one because I, Mona, was there when it sarted.

Recent FLAKE happening:

OMD!! She actually wore this thing on her head at work.....all day. Never ever, dare her to not do something stupid. Not to worry, it was at the Thanksgiving luncheon and everybody was acting stupid that day.

Lookit those eyes. hers not the creature's, just like when she was a child.

FLAKE happening......the beginning.

Remember this picture? It was on my 11/28/09 post when Oreo tried to eat me. It's true!! He chased me under the car. I was terrified and Mommy just laughed at me. Angel Samantha was the fearless one and loved horses, not me. I DO NOT LIKE HORSIES!!

Later on that day guess what? Oreo followed us up on the porch and ate the tip of her tennis shoe off. I told her she deserved it.......God does not like dirty and Mommy was mean to me.
This is what Oreo did to Mommy's shoe.......
Now for the flakey part. She couldn't find her good tennis shoes one day so she wore the pair with the hole to work even though she knew there was hole was in the toe. Well, her excuse was she couldn't go barefoot to work. Somebody noticed the hole and told her about it. She said:

"I know it. It's my airhole because my feet get hot!!"

NOW .....

The third flake...........the biggest of them all. Remember the little 5 year girl above? She had a make believe friend named CLYDE from the time she was 5 until she knew better.

MEET CLYDE...............

she met him for the first time hanging from a tree, when she was crying under thee tree because nobody wanted to play with her. He told her nobody wanted to play with him either. So they became the best of friends. He was her protector too. He would sit under the table curled around her feet when she and her sisters and cousins would play penny-anti-poker with their Grandpa. He would crawl around under the table and slither up everybody's chair and report back to her what cards they had. Most little peeps have make believe friends too but nobody had a snake!!

WITH LOVE MY TIGER FOR THE MEMORY QUILT

MY TIGER

This is the face I fell in love with. The face I dream about at night and will cherish in my heart forever until we meet again. The thought of my leaving this world doesn't scare me anymore because I know that my Tiger will at the gates waiting to welcome me in.

Did you ever wonder how we met? Last year during the spring, Mommy was browsing Blogville and saw a comment on somebody's blog about a little blond wirehair that had been rescued by a lady named Sandra, who had of all things......pits. Being afraid of pits we almost didn't go visit their blog but the thought of a new wirehair on the block was too much to resist. The first picture I ever saw of my Tiger was the one above and he had giraffi just like mine. I knew he was too young for me but Grandma used to say that the woman should always be older than her man. I was hopelessly in love. There will be no other for me.

So Mommy & Sandra became blogging friends and in April of last year, I invited him, Lucky. his Mommish & Daddish to the DROH Spring Fling. He was so handsome, my heart wouldn't stop beating. I asked Mommy, if we could buy a harness for him, that had little black paw prints on plain red material and we did! So that day became our first date. He wasn't a DROH pup but he fit right in and he was a rescue after all. My Tiger was in constant motion and so much fun. The picture below is of Sandra and MY Tiger when he was trying on his new harness. On my December 21st post. I posted a picture of my love and I sharing our first kiss, ya gotta go there to see how cute we were and the beautiful couple we made. I will never wear that dress again, so Mommy let me send a piece of it for the Memory Quilt loveingly being made for Sandra by WRN at Dachsies With Moxie.

MY Tiger's harness burned in the fire but my Aunt Judy had a small piece of the material left and she gave it to me. Mommy can't even sew a button on so I'm hoping that WRN can maybe cut out two small hearts and but them together on my dress material.

Presented by Frankie Furter in Loving memory, understanding, and friendship for Brinks & Bella and Angels Coco, Shelby, Lucky, Tiger, Guero.

We KNEW that IT was coming. We could Feel IT in the very air. We KNEW we would Not be able to Stop IT, but we Had to Protect our beloved two leggers. We, the Houston Pittie Pack and Wee Ones, Had to make Plans.

From the first moment that we Sensed IT was coming, we were very aware that some of us would need to STAY BEHIND to continue to Love and Protect and Care for our Mommish, Daddish, Grammish , and our Baby Two Legger. That would be a most important assignment. None of us felt worthy. Each believed another possessed the qualities needed to take on the task.

We also admit that we each wanted to take the Easy Path.. The one where we would chase IT completely away... Well beyond the Rainbow.. and then be able to REST on the other side of the Bridge.

Oh the SHAME we felt. WHY? WHY was IT coming to OUR Safe Home? WHY to Sandra's Sanctuary, as we love to call it. And WHY couldn't we Prevent IT's Evil Arrival?

We wanted, but could not find a way to make our people Aware of what was going to happen. WHY couldn't we make the DANGER KNOWN? WHY couldn't we Stop IT? Our saintly mommish had SAVED each and EVERY One of Us. WHY could we not save her from what was going to happen?

OH the GUILT. The Horrible GUILT we all felt. We Should have been able to do for HER what SHE had done fur US. Our Hearts were CRUSHED. We were miserable and felt Useless. OH, the GUILT.

It was Shelby who finally made it clear that we needed to face some difficult facts. We could NOT change the fact that there would be great sadness, but the most important thing of all was to ensure that EVERY ONE of our Humans WOULD SURVIVE and be watched over once we managed to drive IT away.

Shelby made us understand that WE had Mommish, and the other people in our home, to thank for saving US and for showing us such tenderness. It was OUR turn to give back to HER. We, Guero, Shelby, Coco Chanel, Tiger, Lucky, Brinks, and Bella, had known more devotion than any of us ever dreamed possible and it was due to the people who had taken us in and made our lives worth living. Our lives were so wonderful. Not to be measured in the Number of Days ... but by the QUALITY of those days.

There was never a question in our minds.. Mommish, Daddish, Grammish, and the precious baby two legger Must be protected and SAVED. We may not be able to PREVENT, but we Could SAVE, at any cost. SHE saved US we needed to SAVE HER and Her FAMILY.

Who will Go and Who will Stay? We could not decide. We could not VOTE. We resorted to the silly game BONE STUFFIE PAW Bone outweighs Stuffie Stuffie has no Paw and Paw Buries Bone. We had seen people play that with rocks and paper and scissors. Our friends will get a laugh out of that. They will remember how we always Love to have FUN together. Although we enjoyed our game we knew the results would be Serious and must be accepted with Strength and Conviction, just as OUR Mommish has always shown us to do. Yes, we DID enjoy our last game... until we are all together again.

BRINKS & BELLA

The result of the game was that Brinks and Bella would be the ones entrusted to Remain Behind. They would Comfort and PROTECT in our absence. The rest of us would Drive IT away.

BABY JOSH

Bella immediately sensed that the little two legger needed to be very close to Mommish and Daddish...especially at NIGHT.. because we were sure that IT would choose the DARKEST TIME to do IT's DARKEST Deed. Bella worked for two days to make the humans AWARE that the two legger baby... was not feeling well and needed to be watched closely... They finally seemed to understand her looks and body language. Bella was finally able to convince the people to move the baby's bed into their bedroom. Bella proved her skill at watching over our little one with all her power

Brinks would be our Strength.. Our Bone Solid Strength. He would be the one to show Mommish, that all of the days to come, are OUR legacy to HER.

Mommy here....

Twas the day after Christmas and all thru our house it was finally quite as every doggie was napping and dreaming of Santa Paws and what he had brought. So much to play with, so much to destuff and still more begging for christmas cookies. No need for snow cause there's plenty of fluff all around. Weenie's first Christmas was a success, even if Mona destuffied his Santa Claus. Even through the sadness of the times, they still had a great time. One last question I have....Who's gonna clean up the mess?

Oh my goodness, we had a such a good time. Only 1 BIG pressie from Santa Paws but boy did he deliver. Weenie just didn't know what to do. He was in heaven. Santa Paws had already stopped by our house before I decided to be naughty. Mommy said he's already taking names for next year but maybe he'll forget.

THE MESS

We kinda didn't follow the rules. Mommy was shocked. Me, little sweet old me, destuffed both Santa and the Pinguin. I gave the noice makers to Weenie, that's all he really wants cause he can follow the sound and there are still lots of balls,and candy canes, and bones to make noise.

A MESSAGE FROM SHELBY

It's me Shelby looking down from the bridge where it is so peaceful and happy. Everybody is always laughing and kisses on each other. The first doggie I saw when wee got here was angel Samantha who welcomed all us in. Yes I saw her with both my eyes! When you get up here, you are whole again, no more pain and young too. She told me my Aunty Sarah said we needed to stick together up here. She is my best friend already. Coco & Guero are still together, they will never be apart just as they were down there. Sweet little imp Jody & and Tiger are already running, playing and chasing Lucky around. My little puppies, the ones I never got to love, are here too. Do not cry for me or Coco, Guero, Tiger and Lucky We are safe now forever and ever. You will all be in our hearts and we are yours.

Last Christmas was my first ever Christmas being surrounded by love. I came running when Mommish said I had a present of my very own.

Friends,

My heart is shattered but I still have Mona & Weenie to care far so I must force myself to go on. In all our lives there is somethimg or someone that changes our lives and actions. In my life there have been two. When I lost my Samantha, a new life began called rescue with a new little girl to love named Mona. The second was Shelby. What more can be said about my feelings for Shelby that everybody doesn't already know, so I won't go any furthur except to say I am better for having had her in my life. There are 2 spots in my heart filled with my 2 girls, Samantha & Shelby. Until we meet again, they will be there.

Things are still very sad over at our house, just as it is all over Blogville, for the loss of our dear friends in the tragic fire Friday morning. Mona was looking for a scrap of material to send for the Memorial Quilt that meant something to both her and Tiger. Yesterday we posted a picture of Mona with Tiger on their first date. Aunt Judy made the harness Tiger is wearing and the dress & cap Mona has on. Tiger's harness burned in the fire but Mona still has her little dress so she is gonna send some of it in. If you look at yesterday's post you can see that little dress. Mona said she may never wear thay dress again becuase it reminds her of her fella & how much she misses him already.

Now about Mommy. She loved Guero, Coco Channel, my Tiger and the wee Lucky and grieves for them but she is devestated over the loss of Shelby. Did you know that Mommy was terrified of pits before she met our dear sweet Shelby? The day Sandra found Shelby, she called Mommy and Mommy went right over so they could take a nameless, battered and almost dead pit to Dr Briles. When they got to the Vet the office needed a name. Mommy named her Shelby because if she survived, she would need to be strong like the Shelby in Steel Magnolias. It took all of 1 day for Mommy to fall in love with a nameless, battered pit and she wouldn't change one minute of the last year and half, except to take some of the pain away from our sweet girl. Mommy just can't bring herself to finish a post about the loss of Shelby and the rest. It is too hard. She will but it will take time.

Her eyes are beautiful. Most babies measuring 5 ft. would be considered big, but new born giraffe, ‘Margaret’ at Chester Zoo, UK is seen as unusually small for her species. She is one of the smallest giraffes ever born at Chester Zoo, but pint-sized Margaret will soon be an animal to look up to.

Little Margaret, who is the first female Rothschild giraffe born at the zoo, is being hand-reared by her dedicated keepers. The first calf for six-year-old mum Fay, Margaret, who was born two weeks early, tipped the scales at just 34 kilos (75 lbs.) and is a mere 5 ft. tall.

Tim Rowland's, team leader of the Giraffes section, said: 'Margaret is one of the smallest giraffe calves we have ever seen. Fay isn't the largest of giraffes and Margaret was also early which might go some way to explaining her size. 'Margaret was having difficulty suckling so our keeping team are now hand-rearing her.

Before I tell ya what I did at Petco Saturday, "I was bad, very BAD",

gotta show ya some pictures of my Sissy. She got tired of Mommy pointing the flashy at us while she was doing our Christmas Smilebox so she made a face at Mommy.

OK......now left me tell ya what happened Saturday at Petco. Remember we was supposed to be elfs and help Santa Claus. Well, I got news for you. Santa Claus was a NO SHOW. Lots of upset pups and peeps. What can I say! Mommy said Santa Paws wouldn't have stood us up.

Anyway, this is what happened. I needed to go pee and Ms Susan said she'd take me out. I did my business and that's when it happened. As we was coming back inside, all of a sudden I heard a whole bunch of sqeakers. Of course I had to find out where they were and dragged Ms Susan to where that lovely noice was coming from. I was moving pretty fast and she almost tripped. There was a whole bunch of kids playing with stuffies and I figured I should be able to play with them too. NOT!! Ms Susan picked me up and carried me to Mommy, kicking and barking. Mommy couldn't get me to stay still and as long as I heard them squeakers, I kept being bad. Mommy was so ashamed of me. OK, I admit to. I threw a temper tantrum!

Then Ms Susan's husband went and bought me a hedgehog stuffie. After that played and played with that stuffie until all its guts came out and chewed on the squeaker until it died. It was so much fun.

Then they say I was really bad. Somebody took a dump right under our table. Just because I had been playing under there, doesn't mean it was me. Mona was sitting under there too. What can I say?

We are sooooo excited!! Mr Weiner, no relation to my Weenie except being adorable like my brother, is gonna be featured along with some other fosters in the December Issue of Life+Dog magazine. He is our friend Jennifer's foster and we've meet in the flesh and played together. Aunt Judy loves pir-balds, has 2 of her own already, wonder if she wants to make it three? Just saying!!

OK now for the bad news. Mommy was looking at pictures today and found this picture of me and it almost made us cry. This picture was taken last year about this time when I was being naughty. Mommy has always said my best feature is my eyes and my thick silver and black furs.
She took these pictures yesterday. Not only am I losing some furs but I'm almost grey.
Mommy says it doesn't matter, that I still have my pretty eyes.
Weenie says it don't matter to him either cause he never could see me anyway and in his mind's eye I am his beautiful sister.
Whatcha think? Do I need a dye job.

The day after Thanksgiving, Mommy found a "we attempted to deliver" slip from the post office in the mail box. First off, that is a "CROCK"!! We were home all day, with Mommy, and nobody ever came to the door. It said we could pick it up Monday at ther post office. So she went over to the post office Monday after work and they couldn't find it. They said maybe the mailperson didn't leave it there yet. After some HBO words, to herself of course cause she's too polite to say them out loud, she told them they had better find it. They still didn't find it that day, or the next, or the next, or the next day either. Finally they called on Friday and said the had found it..........a whole week later!! Their excuse was that it was addressed to Mona & Weenie with no last name one it and was put in a unknown misc box. Dah!! There was other mail, with our last name, in the mailbox with the slip! Dah!! Mommy got off early Friday afternoon, and went straight over to get it.

It was from our dearest friends over at "Raising Addie", Addie, Lucie and Hailey.

These last pictures were taken right before bedtime Friday night. My sweet little Weenie went bonkers over the balls. Angel Zoe loved these balls just like Lucie does now. It was like she was watching him from the bridge and making sure he knew just what to do. I've never seen the little fella have so fun, jumping and throwing them in the air, trying to find them. I cried watching him. They had sweakers in them so he was able to keep track of them. He is such a sweetheart. He even let Mona play with one.

The balls at didn't last long. Less than 6 hours and they looked like this.
I can't even find were Weenie hide the blue one.

This morning Mommy got an e-mail from the President of ATDR about a rescue that was done earlier this year. Mommy had heard about it when it happened but had never seen the the video about it.

A research facility in France closed down, these beagles had been there since the day they were born .Rather than destroy the dogs, a beagle rescue out of California paid to have them flown to USA, this is the first time they had seen the sun or been able to walk on grass. Hey Blogville,

This naughty or nice stuff is a real tuffie. I haven't destuffed a stuffie since before Thanksgiving. What to do? What to do? Speaking of Thanksgiving, our friend Mr Pip has been accused of a turkey day crime. Yes! He has been falsely accussed of stealing some Yummylicious looking turkey. WE DO NOT BELEIVE IT!! How could his peeps not believe it was the cat, when the proof was right in front of their faces. Bet his girl doesn't believe he did it either. So I have decided to hire the best lawyer I can find, unless, of course, our COP Sarge can get him out of this mess. Thinking about doing it is not a crime! Is it? Anyboby got any ideas who I can hire to defend PIP. I thought about Perry Masin but Mommy said he left this earth when he got cancelled, whatever that means. I have started a defense fund in Pip's name. OK.....During Thanksgiving we all thought about what we are thankful for. I was thankful for my Mommy & my sister taking me into their home and making it my forever home. There are still so many dachshund rescue groups needing help taking care of them and lots of doggies already in homes needing help. Aunt Paula sent us a picture of a little doggie named TULSA being in a contest to help raise funds to pay for pay her brother's medical expenses. He is at the bridge now but his Mom still has bills to pay.

Happy Saturday!!

It has been raining here all day and has been kinda chilly. My silly brother loves to play in the rain. I don't!! I won't even go pee when it's raining. Mommy finally just had to shut the patio door and make him stay inside. Tonight it's supposed to get down into then 30's, it's finally starting look like it's supposed to this time of the year. It's been perfect snoozing weather today and we been doing just that. Don't tell Mommy I told ya but she never got out of her gown today.

Besides napping, we been watching westerns and the ANIMAL PLANET all day with Mommty. Aunt Judy sent Mommy a video you just gotta see. It's long but amazing. We love it!!

Watching this video clip is a once in a lifetime experience.
This man takes his 16 dogs out for a bike ride and swim in a river every day.
Observe how well trained they are and how much they love him.
By the time they return home, they are exhausted and ready for a good rest .

Happy day after Thanksgiving! It's 30 days until Christmas Day. Weenie didn't even know what Christmas was until I told him.

"My poor brother was kept outside for the first 9 years of his life but now he is with me and Mommy and we gotta make up for all that he's missed."

Weenie here....."I have nothing to put on my list. I've got all I ever wanted, a Mommy and a sister that love me and I won't ever be left outdside in the cold and rain again. My wish is that every homeless pup finds a home in time for Christmas."

OK......We had the most exciting and Yummylicious Thanksgiving ever! We went over to Aunt Tina & Chris's house. They said they had a suprise for us. OMD!! They sure did. They got a new pup. Her name is Hoppy Sue. "Are we there yet Mommy?"

Dear blogging friends,

This last Saturday all of us had such a wonderful day spending it with the pups and peeps we love and that love us, even though we started the day with me having to go to Dr Briles for my yearly stuffs.

Mommy loves our family so much, but they aren't dog people like all of our Blogville peeps. The family can't understand the love she has for us and why she spends all her money takig care of us. Without all of you and Mommy's DROH & ATDR friends, the last few months while I been sick, would have been unbearable. We have so much to be thankful this year. First on the list is my brother, Weenie!! Second is all of you & your support.

OK.....enough of all that mushy stuff. Let's go on before Mommy starts crying. Me and Weenie wanna tell ya about the terrific day, except going to the Vet to be poked and prodded, we had Saturday.

First.......Mommy tricked me. As you can see in this picture, I was so excited cause we was going visiting.

Then it happened! She turned left onto Aldine Bender. Right goes to the freeway. Left goes to Aldine Animal Hospital. I love Dr Briles and he takes good care of me but enough is enough!!

"Don't worry, Sissy, I'm right here with ya!!"
Misery loves company.
This is how it went..........The waiting is the hardest.

"Hey!! What'cha doing back there?"

I'm kinda losing some of my furs on my chest.

Second........We went to get the oil changed in my car at the Toyota dearlership. Do you know what that means? We get to visit with Miss Cindy. She gots doggies too and she loves me. Of course we had to wait until she could take a break but she she's worth waiting for.

Third.............then we went to Aunt Judy and 8 of our dachsie friends were there with their fosters or Mommies. The peeps were gonna go to dinner that evening as soon as some more peeps came over and they brought 3 more dachshunds with them. So there was 13 doggies all together.

Look who else was there. Tiana, Weenie's little girl. He was so excited. Remember Koya is my baby girl but Tiana belongs to Weenie.

Hi friends,

I'm feeling good today. Yesterday was a busy day. We went to 4 different places and the poor old Mommy is exhausted and like she likes to say
"Ah, to be young again."

The most important thing was that I went to see Dr Briles for my yearly stuffs. He said I looked good, was acting like my old self again and that the medicine seems to be working for now. Now that's something to the thankful for!!

Anyhow....we went to Aunt Judy's yesterday afternoon and there was 6 of us dachsies there and 3 more came later. We had a blast and the peeps went to a place called "Green Parrot Bar & Grill" for dinner. They was gone for hours and hours but had a great time. Then they came back and had some of Aunt Judy's homemade fig cake and pumpkin pecan ice cream. It was yummylious or so they say since none of us got any. It's just not fair, I tell you.

Mommy, Aunt Judy, Paula and Brinda took tons of pictures but Mommy hasn't loaded any we took yet so ya gotta wait to see them.

One of the ATDR foster parents sent a little video of one of her previous foster pups living the good life and the music on it is a very old song some of our older peeps, like Mommy, might like to hear so here goes. Again "Ah to be young again!"

Happy Birthday Baby Koya Guess what happened a year ago today? My baby girl got born!!
I am so excited!!! Mommy has being watching her grow since the day she was born.

Thank goodness Mommy works with her Granny, Cat, and whenever she takes pictures she always sends them to me, since she is my baby.

Yesterday Mommy posted a quick little video of us and our dear dachsie friends that Aunt Paula took while Mommy, her sisters and cousins went to the bench for a cousin reunion this summer.

It got Mommy to thinking about that trip and how wonderful it was. The only person missing was her sister Frances. You've heard stories of the "Wild & Whooly Ricca Girls." Well here they are in all their glory.

It has been a wonderful day with a touch of fall in the air. Me and my Sissy have been sunbathing and chasing lizards and tree rats most of the day, when we haven't been napping on Mommy's lap. She even brought me a lizard to play with cause I couldn't see them. She nice to me lake that! Course he was dead but I heard the crush when she bit him.

Mommy was so excited when she found out today that 2 pups got adopted thanks to Rescue Me Week!! Yep 2! Maybe more. I bet Grampa J is very proud of Mayzie, I know we are.

Remember Wednesday we told ya about the 5th Annual Barktoberfest in Kingwood being held today? We didn't go because Mommy had to go to the dentist this morning and Dr Briles was gonna call this afternoon with the results of Mona's blood tests. Before Mommy left work yesterday, Judy from Great Dane Rescue said TUX would be going. Maybe he got lucky!! We hope so.

While ATDR was at Barktoberrest in Kingwood, DROH was in Deer Park at Pet Adventure Day. Both them places are on different sides of Harris County with Houston between them. So homeless dachshunds were well represented today.

Aunt Paula and Brinda were at Pet Adventure Day and they sent a few pictures of their fosters cause they were just too cute.

This is Brinda with Princess Violette. She is a very senior dog. She was wearing her tennis shoes but when your a Princess why walk when you can be carried around.

Don't know what this puppy's name is but I guess this is his proud Papa.

OK....NOW FOR THE BAD & GOOD NEWS!!

......the bad news

Yesterday Mona had to go stay with Dr Briles all day. I had to stay home ALONE, all alone, all day by myself. I didn't like it one bit. I cried like a baby! OK, I admit it!! I might be a big boy but I get nervous when I'm alone. So I was a bad boy. I should be ashamed but I'm not. I left little suprises all over the house for Mommy, if you know what I mean. Well at least it wasn't the runny kind!! I pulled the telephone off the table by the cord, pushed the trash can over, tore up Mona's stuffy and best of all.....jumped up on the couch and knokced everythinbg to the floor. Mommy still hasn't figured how I got up there. So I'm in the dog house now. So I'll let Mommy take over now.

MOMMY here......the good news

Yesterday morning, it was in the 50s, too cool for Mona so I bundled her up in her little hoodie sweat shirt and off we went. Weenie was very sad. He has already explained what a naughty boy he was so enough said. Let me say though that I was not upset with him when we got back. He does not like to alone unless his sister is with him. Weenie loves Miona so much. Let me also say that he ignored me all evening until is was bedtime and then he was the first in the bed.

"Let's go Mommy, I'll drive!" "Mommy!! We're going where!! I don't wanna go."

Mona was not very happy either yesterday morning. She loves Dr Briles but not enough to stay at the Vet's office all day. She had to be dragged to the back when I left for work. She did very well while she was there but refused to eat. Dr Briles said she kept pulling her blanket into the food dish and then her stuffy on top of that. These lab tests had to be sent out so good news yesterday.

This afternoon Br Briles called with some good news. The medications she is taking seems to be working. Her levels have gone down somewhat and the medication does not have to be increased at this time. The Cushings will never go away but hopefully will be manageable. She will be retested again in 3 months unless she starts throwing up and has runny stools again.

She is still not as active as before, sleeps at alot but is starting to take an interest again in whats going on. She still continues to drink a lot of water and when she pees it's like a little river that won't stop flowing. Dr Briles says that is normal with Cushings. She also has some hair loss, normal too. She is bloated and her poor little belly looks paper thin where you can see her veins. He said that's normal too. It hard to see her this way but at least she's not in pain.

Today we are posting our final entry for Rescue Me Week. We want to thank our friend, Mayzie, for coming up with such a Pawsome idea. So many posts from some many of us. MEET TUX

Tux is a handsome leggy Merle Mantle male with natural ears, one ear has an adorable flip over the head. He is the sweetest boy who is 5 years old and weighs about 130 pounds. He is a spunky guy who likes to take car rides and and lean on you. He is good with other dogs, cats and kids. He loves water and loves to take an afternoon romp! He is very loyal, great boy who is looking for a couch to call home!

Tux has developed Wobblers, which is being maintained with pain meds and restricted exercise. Tux hasn’t had a good life and his people in his life have always dumped on him, so we are here to take care of Tux now. We are seeking a special home for Tux that would like to give a special needs Dane a forever place to call home. He is active, energetic, clear mind, and loves to snuggle. He just needs help maintaining the Wobblers.
If you are looking for a fantastic boy who is the right age and well mannered, than TUX is your man.

It's DAY 4 of Rescue Me Week. WOW!! What a turnout it's been. I've been so excited seeing all the doggies needing homes and reading their stories. We pray every night that they all get adopted into good homes, but if not, if only one gets adopted DWB will have played a big part in it and we would all be so proud.

Mommy said this could be my post tonight because this post is about 2 special dogs needing homes that are where I came from, ATDR. When my former owners dumped me at a high kill shelter in Irving, I was getting ready to be PUT TO SLEEP when ATDR came to my rescue. My fomer owner didn't want a dog going blind but Mommy didn't care. I've been with my sister and my Mommy for more than 10 months now. I'm a very lucky boy and hope these two find their forever homes soon.

Cash is a sweet red boy that stumbled into rescue. A friend of ATDR discovered him running through rush hour traffic. She managed to catch him and decided to call him Lucky at first. Cash made it to one of our foster homes and is thriving. Attempts to contact the owners were never successful, they never returned a call! He is approx 2 -3 yers old, healthy and heartworm negative. This love bug wants to snuggle and cuddle as much as you will let him. Cash is an easy going, loving little guy that deserves so much more than he had in the past. Please help him make his dreams come true! Cash is fully vetted, microchipped and being fostered in the Houston Area!

Several months ago ATDR had 130 or so dogs waiting for forever homes. Last month they took in so many puppies, so many Mommy couldn't count, many of which have been adopted. Lots of folks just want puppies but they are so many older dogs needing homes too. I was almost 9 years old when my Mommy adopted me from ATDR and you know how well I turned out.

Please think about adopting a rescue dog, any kind, and help save a like.

All the girl dachs get fosters, they’re cute and petite,But I promise we boy dachs are equally sweet.We’re boys with such warmth and devotion to give, All we want is a new chance to love and to live.

I need a foster but would really like a furever home. This prayer we boys pray every day. Today we'd like to introduce you to Miss Dory. She is currently receiving care while she recovers at Texas A&M Small Animal Clinic.

Miss Dior is a precious piebald girl brought to us by a good samaritan who found her after she had been hit by a car. Her pelvis is broken in at least five places and one of her shoulders is fractured. This poor baby will need lots of prayers and donations on her road to recovery.

Dear friends,

Today is day 1 of Mazie's Rescue Me Week. Rescue is very dear to our Mommy's heart. All of you know that Mona rescued our Mommy in 2005. DROH says Mommy rescued Mona when she adopted her but Mommy says it was the other way around. I, Weenie, didn't come along this until this year and Mommy says she can't imagine her life without me.

Mona & I are so lucky to have our Mommy but not every doggie is so lucky.

Remember this little fella? It's Barron, one of Shelby's pups right after he was born. Frankie Furter named him.

This is Barron taken not to long ago. He is now about 14 months old and he is waiting for a forever home at the Brazoria County Humane Society. His sister Megan and brother Petey went to them when Bill had to close his Rescue, Gulf Coast Bully Breed. They both were adopted and are in wonderful homs. Barron had been adopted by one of Bill's staff but for some reason was given back. We don't know why but we just know that it breaks our hearts that he doesn't have a forever home yet.

It would be so nice if all of Shelby's sweet babies had a home.

WOW 3 IN A ROW!! FIRST TIME EVER IN FRANCHISE HISTORY.

Hi dear friends,

Weenie here......Just wanted to give you guys a update on my sister. Last Thursday Mommy called Dr Briles to see if Mona's urine tests had come back. They were not all back yet and Dr Briles was in surgery, so the tech said the would ask him about the one that had come back. His name is Josh and he made Mommyn very upset, we he said their was blood in Mona's urine. Mommy being Mommy she started crying. Mommy wanted to know what she needed to do but Josh said nothing until Dr Briles called her the next day, when the last of the tests would be back. He said Mona was taking an antibotic that would help with if there was really blood in her urine. We slept good that night but not Mommy.

Dr Briles called Mommy on Friday and said the rest of the tests didn't show any blood in her urine and no sugar either. He said Mona wouldn't coperate when they needed to get some urine so he used a needle to drain some. OUCH!! He think that that's were the blood came from. Thank God!!

So Mommy decided we needed some new toys and bought us each a stuffie. Let me say right now that after almost 2 days they are still intact. Why? They don't got no sqweekers. They aren't as fun without sqweekers. She got them in the gift shop at the hospital she works.

I'm here tell you aout the 27 adoptions ATDR had during the month of October. Yep!! You heard me right! 27 lucky pups found their furever homes last month. Mommy did the home visits on 4 of them. Like Mommy says she might not be able to walk around much but if she can get a pup adopted she kids old Artur-ri-tes in the butt and goes for it.

Wanna see some of the pups? Each month ATDR puts out a list of the lucky doggies for that month with a picture of each. That got Mommy to thinking about me. So she went and looked at my first picture to go on the website. What a difference a 8 months can make. I was so dull looking with skin problems and now my coat is so nice and shiney, even if I do say so myself. Whatcha think.

OMD, OMD!! We had so much fun today. So many doggies all in one place and I wasn't the only blind doggie there either. Remember Faith? She was Aunt Judy foster for a week or so and then Gerlinde fostered her until she got adopted a month ago. She was there with her new Mommy, Shannon and Gerlinde was there with her 2 dogs she adopted from ATDR and her current foster too. Like we said in our earlier post this morning, that's what the Hallowiener is all about. Adopters, foster Mommies and Daddies, foster dogs and all us lucky ones that got adopted by such wonder people. There were so many different kinds of dachshunds there. Aunt Judy, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Mommy took at least 87 pictures all with the same camera and as soon as we get them all, Mommy is gonna do a Hallowiener Smilebox cause it would take 87 hours if she tried to load them all.

It's here!! My first Hallowiener ever. I'm so excited and Bless His Dogness, I don't gotta be "That Darn Cat." I'm gonna be part of the College Football theme that Mommy and Aunt Judy came up with in 2009. Mommy has been so busy doing home visits and taking my sister to doctor visits, that she just never could come up with something new. So when Aunt Judy said "let's do our college football thingie again" Mommy jumped at the chance. I'm gonna be a Texas A & M Fan in my harness and Mona is gonna be a University of Texas Cheerleader and Mommy's gonna be a Referee. Aunt Judy will be a Referee too and her gang will be respresenting LSU. There's gonna be a costume contest and we're all gonna enter the Best Theme one. Wish Us!!
HAPPY HALLOWIENER!!

The foster dogs are throwing a Happy Hallowiener Pawty Sunday Oct 30th, 1-5pm at Bark 5th Avenue in Houston!! All wieners are invited (and their hooomans too) Come romp, play, eat, visit, dress up for the costume contest and check out the silent auction!!! We had so much fun last year with our friends, fosters, volunteers and adopters!! Lots of happy reunions between families and former fosters!!

As most of you know, Mommy adopted me from DACHSHUND RESCUE OF HOUSTON in 2005 and my heart is always with them for letting Mommy adopt me and all my brothers. Some of Mommy's bestest friends like Aunt Paula, Aunt Brenda, Meredith, Becky and Suzanne are still with DROH and when Mommy got this today we just had to pass it on. Things are kinda tight for us money wise right now but Mommy said we can hit our piggie bank one more time. Please help if you can.

This year I just haven't been in much of a party mood and Halloween has always been my favorite time of the year but there is NO WAY the little fella is gonna miss his first ever Hallowiener. We are gertting ready now and Mona is so excited. As soon as she saw her orange Cheerleader dress she started prancing around ready to get the show on the road. There is one problem. My new camera's battery ran out and when I just now went to charge it, the new battery charger adapter wasn't in the box. So we won't be taking any pictures but Judy will and once we get some pictures from her we'll post them.

Just poping by to tell ya a little story and share a Smile Box made just for all of you, our friends, by my Sissy, Mona.

My Aunt Pam, Mommy real sister, called Mommy the other night to find out how Mona's test went. Mommy said it's Cushings. Aunt Pam said:

"Good thing you got the Little Fella."

And Mommy said:

"That's why I got the Little Fella!"

Now let me explain something. Aunt Pam is not a dog person like my Mommy is. Never has been , never will be. She didn't like it when my Mommy told her she was gonna foster me. She pitched a fit when my Mommy decided to adopt me. Well my Mommy told her then that she didn't want to be alone if something ever happened to Mona. Let me say that Mona is not going anywhere, if me or my Mommy has anything to do with it. Whatever it takes, how ever much it costs we will fight to keep my Sissy with us.

Aunt Pam also said:

"If ya had to get another dog why's ya get an old blind one."

And Mommy said:

"Because even seniors, like me and Sissy, deserve homes and a happy life. Besides its none of your business!"

And I say:

"You go girl!!"

Mommy is too upset tonight to think straight so I'm steping in to tell you about my Sissy.
She does have Cushings. It is a very hard disease to diagnosis and requires lots of testing and treatments plus special medication that has to be ordered. They just don't keep it in stock. Dr
Willey, Mona's Internest, is not ruling out a liver biopsy, but at this point doesn't want to do one unless it's actually necessary. It all makes sense now. Cushing can cause all kinds of problems with Mona's blood. Angel Samanth had Cushings and Mommy is heartbroken when she thinks about the HELL Samanthat went through. Whatever has to be done, will be done but it will be a long time before Mommy can smile again. Please keep my sister in your thougfhts and prayers.

Mommy has been on the computer most of the day reading about Cushings. It's been almost 7 years sice Samantha died and she has tried to forget. If you don't know what Cushings is here a link that will explain it: http://www.kateconnick.com/library/cushingsdisease.html

I took this picture of Mona right before we left for her Ultrasound. She didn't want to go.

This was Mona waiting for the doctor begging me to take her home.
Mona did not have her gallbladder removed. The Ultrasound didn't show any gall stones. Let me say right up front that I'm more confused than before and scared even more.

Thus far, in 10 weeks of medication, she has she has not been responding to the Denosyl for her liver or anitobotic thrapy. The liver and gall bladder enzymes have continued to increase. The Specialist thinks she might have Cushing's disease, which would be more horrifying to me. My Samantha had Cushing's, which led to renal failure, which led to Diabeties which led to her death in 18 months. I am terrified

The words below were taken directly from the report I was given today.

DIAGNOSTIC test done: ACTH stimulation test. The results of the test will be ready tomorrow. Diagnosis for now is HEPATOPATHY of unknown cause - additional diagnostic pending.

Recheck: If the test results are not consistent with Cushing's disease, then the next step is to biopsy the liver and possibly obtain a sample of bile for analysis as well to determine the reason behind the liver enzyme increase.

So we play the waiting game some more. If it's Cushing's we will have a consult on where to go from here. If not Cushings she will have a biopsy & bile test on Wednesday and have to stay overnight. Thank God, I'll have Weenie to love on and cry into his furs all night. Then the waiting game starts again since it will take almost a week before the results come back.

I think I will lose my mind by then. Weenie was not very happy when he had to stay home by himself this morning. When we got home he ran up to Mona and threw himself on her. It was like he handn't seen her in forever. He ignored me. Just as expected he managed to knock done the kitchen garbage can and stuff was everywhere. Oh Well!!

When I started typing this report, Weenie was still ignoring me. Can you guess where he was hiding........

But as soon as Mona came into the room, he got up & have her his bed and blanket. They have doinbg this ever since........

Poor kitty....they gotta dress up too!

Hi friends,

Well I didn't get go to Pest Fest after all today. Mommy went to the Bono Family Reunion last night and she couldn't hardly get out off bed this morning. Old Arthur-ri-tus got her again. BUT Aunt Judy sent her some pictures. Here are a few.

ATDR'S BOOTH.....They took the kissing booth but would have made a lot more money had I been there. She said everybody asked where the cute little wire girl was.
This year they had a picture board about the advantages to having a pet harness on our necks instead of just a collar and leash.
Here were some of the harnesses Aunt Judy made. See the one in the middle at the bottom? I have one just like it but now Weenie wears it cause he says it don't look as girlie as some of my others do, besides he would rather be NAKKID!
The theme for are dachshunds was cowboys and cow girls.

It was with deep sorrow that we learned Friday night that Miss Claudette had passed on. We know that she is a better place now, pain free and with her beloved Lacy LuLu. Mmmy cried for hours remembering what a kind and loving lady she was to all of us in the DWB community. We will miss here deeply but we will never forget her.

Last year, Mommy sent Miss Claudette a statue just like the one below. This one was sent to Mommy when Samantha went to the bridge in 2005. Miss Claudette sent Mommy an e-mail right away saying she loved it and had put it next to her computer, so she could look at it and it would make her feel safe. This is the way Mommy will remember Miss Claudette, holding and loving one of us. Mommy can see her now holding a pup with hundreds more at her feet giving them comfort and love. She is a the bridge now with Lacy Lu Lu, Samantha and all our dear friends and will be looking down at all of us with a smile. There are many special ladies in the world but we have lost the best. Be strong Rocky and Jodee, she will always look out for you.

Miss Claudette........will always think of you always with love in our hearts.
